Halocarbons Are NOT Pollutants!
What is a Halocarbon?
A halocarbon is commonly known as a “refrigerant gas.”
A common misconception is that refrigerant gases are greenhouse gases.

So long as the refrigerant gas is contained in an appropriate cylinder or within a refrigeration circuit, there is no danger to the environment.
What is a Greenhouse Gas?

From the moment a halocarbon is released into the air, the gas loses its classification as a refrigerant gas due to the loss of its molecular stability.
It then becomes a greenhouse gas (GHG) and gets placed on a scale, which classifies its global warming potential (GWP).
